ER&D course offerings for
teachers and paraprofessionals
- Earn 30 certification credits (CPDUs) and enhance your
classroom instruction. The ER&D program is based on proven practice and meets
the NCLB criteria for high-quality professional development. These courses
offer professional development opportunities and learning experiences that are
very different from traditional in-service training programs.
- The only cost is $40 for the manual or $30 for the CD, due the first night
of class.
- Additional fee: the usual credit fee will apply, if
applying for two credit semester hours from Governor State o Prairie State.
- For non-members, there is an additional $100 fee.
Paraprofessionals can NOW take these courses
for credit from Prairie State.

Comprehension
Instruction
focuses on the
research and exemplary practices that help students acquire strong reading
comprehension instruction and vocabulary development. Participants examine,
discuss and evaluate the appropriate application of a range of instructional
strategies from explicit to implicit teaching of comprehension skills. This
course is appropriate for all K-12 teachers who need help increasing student
comprehension of text, whether the text is a literature selection or a
subject area textbook.

MVP II
CD-ROM Learning to Read
is not designed solely
for reading specialists. It applies an integrated curriculum approach,
making it suitable for all educators responsible for helping students learn
how to read and better understand written text.
This course provides educators access to
the latest research about effective practices for instructing beginning
readers and applications for the classroom and thus, increased student
achievement.

Managing Antisocial Behavior
