| This scholarship was established to honor
the late Illinois Federation of Teachers' president Jacqueline B. Vaughn.
Her commitment and dedication were hallmarks of her nearly four decades in
the teacher union movement. She was elected IFT president in 1989 and
completing her third term of office when she died of cancer in 1994. She was
also a member of the AFT Executive Council and chaired the AFT Task Force on
School Safety and Violence. AFT Local 604 is offering a $2,000 scholarship to dependents of all Local 604 members. The annual scholarship award program requires all applicants to write an essay about labor union history and its impact on their lives. Scholarship Rules
